We were originally contacted by a company out of Florida and they came out and gave me a quote. I was getting emails from two different companies and I was confused. I figured it out because Solar Power of Oklahoma called and asked when they could come out to do a site visit. I told them they’d already been here. And the guy said no. I looked and it was a totally different company. So, I had them both give me a quote and they were within $1,000 of each other. The other company is out of Florida and Solar Power of Oklahoma is out of Edmond, with their office four miles from my house. So, I went with the local guys. If I ever had any problems, I can go down there and talk to them. They use American-made panels too, whereas the other one did not. So, there were several reasons to go with them. They’ve been great.

They did the installation on the coldest, windiest, and nastiest day of the year. I was scared to death that these guys were gonna fall off the roof. They have these big panels up there. Then they apologized and said, “We are so sorry. This is the longest it's ever taken us to install a house.” It was about six and a half hours. They said that if they have a really good day, they can actually do it in five hours. They were huffing and puffing and cold. I felt sorry for them. But everything was put in and there has been no problem whatsoever. It is very impressive that nothing went wrong. My electric bill before was on average $125 a month, but now, it is always about $14.97. For January, February, March, and April, I over produced about 600 kilowatts, and here in Oklahoma, they give you a credit. But it's been very cloudy this month. So we're producing less because of the clouds. But I have all this credit, so it'll be carried over into this month. So I still won't have a bill.

I did a five-year loan for my solar panels through Solar Power and my payment was $175 a month. So $125 - $175 is $50. So for a $50 investment for five years to have no electric bill just makes sense. So if you're looking at a bill of $175, and you got to put in more panels, your payment’s gonna be whatever your loan is. But what's great about that is that the more you refer, the more they help you. I paid my system off in three months because I gave them 97 referrals. I'm a networking ninja. I love Solar Power of Oklahoma.

Solar has to build a path. Ours is now starting to, whereas in the first month, we played a lot of catch up. We've got it at 50% reliability on the grid. We started out $45 in the whole, every month, because they have a service availability they charge. And this last month, we finally produced enough that we reduced some of that.

I asked the rep that has OG&E with me what the equivalent currency in the app is and what the percentage is that we get back. He didn’t know but it took us not very long to figure it out. I would have to produce thousands of kilowatts to do it. I'm a 28-panel system, which is great and cool. I don't care about how much money the panels cost. I just wanna be 100% no matter what, because in the last two years, OG&E had jumped up their bill percent by 11%. So I wanna be ahead of the curve. I don't wanna have to pay a bill and I don't wanna pay for solar at the same time. It's one or the other. And now, I'm gonna have to pay for both.

I had a roof leak last week and the techs came and fixed that. Solar Power of Oklahoma installed the solar panels after I got a brand new roof and they said they would cover it and would be out if there's ever a leak within 24 to 48 hours. But it was a week and two days. Before that, my solar has been out for a week and a couple of days and I couldn't see what I was producing. I was told I was producing and not to worry. The rep could see it but if I'm paying for $30,000 to $60,000 worth of equipment, I should be able to see it too. And the guys said the reps were gonna come out. Three days passed and I called the company and they said they forgot to do the work order.

The reps called me and I told them my fiancée does not work and stays at home with my daughter and doesn't like to be bothered. But they called me and said they were on their way to my house. I told the guy that day was my inventory work and I asked why they wouldn't tell me that they were coming out that day. It was not very organized. They asked if they could get in my house and I said my fiancée would be pissed to talk to them. They had to reset because of a lost connection from the internet and had to put some little white box that directs. I asked why they didn’t do it initially and they asked if my internet was strong. I have Gigablast and it is the strongest I can get.

I added Jeff on social media because he was cool and down-to-earth during that time but now, he would tell me to just call the office any time I have an issue. Now that he got his sale, it's like I don't matter. Brandy, my fiancée, said that she wished we live outside of the grid so we could just do it ourselves or pay someone a lot more money to get it done so we can control it. Because it's not been the greatest, even though the commercial or the voicemail says that Solar Power of Oklahoma is the number one solar company.

I would probably rather pay the $500 I've been paying in the summer for electricity. I wanted 100% and right now, I'm under-producing. It's summer and I get it. But add on another six to eight panels and I'm overproducing. Now, I'm gonna pay them and the company for electricity for five months of the year. I would rather just pay Solar Power of Oklahoma, but it is weird that they would say not to give them money when I'm literally telling them to take my money so I can be 100 plus percent. We are now 104 outside and they were telling me to watch when it hits summer and that I’m gonna roll. But I’m not rolling because the AC is always on now. I have a daughter upstairs in my two-story house and I told them that. I'm not gonna let my daughter burn up in the middle of the night in the summer.

I told the vice president guy that called me today and he said he was gonna talk to Jeff. I told him not to waste his time. I don't want Jeff fired or demoted. There’s nothing he can help me with now. I'm stuck. I told him I wanted 28 panels but he told me to do 22 because they now have 400 and I don't need so many panels. I'm wishing I was at 28 because then at least it would be my fault that I was at 28 and it still didn't work. But I live and learn. Last summer, my bill was 470 because I have a pool, too. And now, I haven’t connected my swimming pool yet because of how the solar panels are not even keeping up with just the house. But I already have a plan down the road. I have passive income so I'm gonna get where I thought I was supposed to be, around 30 panels. The rep should not be in trouble. It is what it is. It's my first solar, so I learned.
