    What is Protect My Car?

Protect My Car is a vehicle service contract provider that has multiple coverage plans to help meet any need and budget. Once you become a Protect My Car customer, you work directly with the company for customer service, claims administration and contract financing. You don’t have to work with a middleman or seek third-party approval for repairs.

    Protect My Car payment

Coverage plans are available on the company’s website or by contacting a Protect My Car advisor. The process begins with a free quote. Protect My Car has plans with and without deductibles.

We received example quotes for coverage for a 2018 Honda Civic:

    • For a Supreme plan for a Civic with low mileage (e.g., 30,000 miles), we were quoted $91.15 per month for 48 months, with a $99 down payment and a $100 deductible.
    • For a Select plan for a Civic with average mileage (e.g., 75,000 miles), we were quoted $98.48 per month for 48 months, with a $99 down payment and a $200 deductible.
    • For a Driveline plan for a Civic with high mileage (e.g., 175,000 miles), we were quoted $120.39 per month for 48 months, with a $99 down payment and a $200 deductible.

Protect My Car has a 30-day money-back guarantee. This is standard among extended auto warranty companies and lets you cancel your plan in the first 30 days. This is helpful in case you decide that a car warranty isn’t right for you.

Because Protect My Car is a direct provider, it can work directly with you to come up with a payment plan.

    Protect My Car coverage

Protect My Car has coverage plans: Supreme, Select and Driveline. Your available plan options will vary based on your car’s mileage. Each plan comes with 24/7 roadside assistance, free oil changes and free tire rotations.

    • Supreme is the company’s most comprehensive plan and is available for vehicles with lower mileage. The company advertises this plan as the closest thing to a manufacturer’s warranty; it covers components including high-tech electrical parts and the turbocharger. The plan has a $100 deductible, after which Protect My Car pays 100% of all covered repairs.
    • Select is a midlevel plan for vehicles with average mileage. It covers components of the engine, transmission, drive axle, steering, air conditioning and heating, front and rear suspensions, fuel system, brakes, cooling system and electrical system. Protect My Car pays 100% of covered repairs after you pay a $200 deductible.
    • Driveline is designed for vehicles with higher mileage and up to 20 years old. It covers the engine, air conditioning and heating, transmission, fuel system, electrical system, cooling system and drive axle. The company pays 100% of all covered repairs after a $200 deductible.

Once you sign up for a plan, you have to wait 30 days, drive 1,000 miles and make the first month's payment before making a claim, although roadside assistance is available immediately. The roadside assistance benefit includes fuel delivery, tire changes, tow services, vehicle lockout services and emergency jump-starts.

Protect My Car does not offer coverage for vehicles in Alaska, California, Hawaii, Missouri, Oklahoma or Washington.

Protect My Car's rep was excellent as far as explaining everything to me. When I needed to have service for my air conditioner, the people that I had sent the car to were trying to get in touch and it was taking them forever to reach somebody. So, I called Protect My Car myself and I was on hold for almost a hour. I finally got in touch with somebody and the guy told me I had to go online, go to ProtectMyCar.com, and register. So, I did it. But he didn't tell me that the people who had the car had to do it up under them as the vendor. Once I finally got in touch with Protect My Car about that, the next day, they got everything straight and situated.

I wanted some coverage on my car in case something happened with my motor or my transmission, and Protect My Car is worth it. The salesperson was extremely professional and explained about everything. It was positive and excellent dealing with the rep. My used car had 79,000 miles on it and Protect My Car helped me because I've had to have some major work done on the car, and it was covered. It's been a good service to me and it pays for three oil changes within the year. I have a 2014 Honda Crosstour and it was time for my timing belt. They paid for the water pump and the timing belt to be replaced. I would highly recommend Protect My Car.

Initially, when I signed up with Protect My Car, I gave the rep my mileage. But the guy fat-fingered it. The mileage was wrong to the point where I had to put on almost 1,000 miles additional to the 500 I had to do just to make sure everything was okay. But I like the free incentive of the oil change from Protect My Car.

Recently, one of the shafts on the driver’s side was busted or leaking. I got to my Nissan dealership right here locally. It cost over 1,000 plus dollars to get it done. My deductible was 100. I called, got it set up and it was taken care of.

However, recently it has been really bad with communicating with Protect My Car. I came on a Wednesday to get the car repaired. The guy at the dealership called. He eventually got someone before I was about to leave. The guy started doing the thing. The phone call dropped. Everything got messed up. I ended up going home and not getting the car repaired.

I came back Friday. He had the authorization number and they took my car. They offered me a rental car. But I live no more than 10 miles away from the dealership. So I had my family come and get me. I made my way to work, came and picked up my car that Saturday. The issue was Saturday, I couldn't even come and get my car because even though they gave an authorization number, they never cut the check. I ended up waiting till later on that night before, almost before they close to get somebody. I even had to call and leave a message to Protect My Car to cut the check. They gave the authorization number, but they never cleared the check with them. It was really bad. But I definitely would suggest Protect My Car to others. At the end of the day, it's worth it.

This protection program has saved me in so many ways. All older cars should have this coverage. My air conditioner went out and they replaced it no problem. Then the blower went out and they replaced that too. I also get free oil changes and tire rotations with this program.

Thank you for your comments. We appreciate them very much. Folks with older, higher mileage vehicles find it almost impossible to get qualified for coverage with most companies. Protect My Car is always happy to help. The coverage saves you on qualified repair costs, provides towing, roadside assistance and even pays for oil changes and tire rotations, all at an affordable monthly premium. We do work hard to make sure this protection is affordable for everyone’s budget. It’s all part of not just doing the right thing but doing things right for each customer.

I would like to re-protect my car. I’ve been a client with them for a while. They do well with the oil changes that they offer for free but they do not do well with their claims and dealing with your car not once, but twice that I have to sit for almost 4 weeks before I got a response a phone call and email anything while they state that they called me but they didn’t. I’ve been waiting for three weeks for my vehicle for them to tell me that I was behind two payments, which I caught up due to financial struggles. Instead, they didn’t work with me as a client. They work with me as a customer, they didn’t care about my circumstances or my situation. Instead, they brushed me off and not once, but twice my thermostat went down, so I covered that the first round the second time which is now currently my radiator.

They made the shop do a compression test and said that it was under the voltage or a value of what it is that they cover, and they didn’t cover my radiator, making me kick out $184 for coverage on a premium. And also having to pay $250 deductible for them to turn around and tell me they’re not gonna cover it actually is, the shop itself didn’t get a phone call, no message, left no email, no anything stating they're not covering anything. Instead I’m sitting here waiting and then be informed that I have to pay over $1300 to get my car back for a part that is covered with my radiator has never been done. If I have to write Protect My Car run I read them and one for caring about the clients in any shape, form or fashion. They have done nothing except take my money.

I haven’t helped me. Haven’t cater to me as a customer. Haven’t done anything of what they state so now I am one pissed-off consumer as a single mom with kids that has no vehicle for a part that was simple to cover, and they didn’t work with me on. I was informed if I came up with my deductible and made my two payments, they would authorize the repairs but instead, they didn’t do that they said it’s gonna be the customer's responsibility when I’ve lost a job, that’s my only means of transportation text my car did not care at all and now I’m stuck trying to figure out how to get my vehicle back, when they’re towing company is the one that came in, obtained my car over three weeks ago. All I got was what they can’t do for me not one time were they proactive to say, "Hey we understand. Everyone’s having rough time, is this is what we can do." Instead, they just do me to the walls.

I will be dropping coverage immediately and filing a complaint, even further from what is on the website, I have been bamboozled out of my money on multiple occasions. What is the point of getting an extended warranty to pay every month on not just one by two cars and have no rectification for what they publicize and not actually even follow through with. Finding every reason why not to fix the customer's car when they obtain their money for their monthly premium, which is the part endpoint of paying to obtain coverage to save on the major parts of a car. I was informed to go obtain service records all over the green earth and I had just gotten my car fixed last month.

Went to filing a claim with Protect My Car for them to turn around and state they don’t cover the thermostat. I cough that one up but I know that they cover a radiator and alternator and my issue was a radiator. Consumer out here in the world paying money to companies you expect that they’re going to work for you and that your coverage is what they state they’re going to provide or do even if it is the minimal going the extra stretch going the extra mile shows customer satisfaction, but Protect My Car lacks that an entirety.

After being a vendor for Protect My Car for a very long time, I will no longer accept them in my facility. It has taken me 9 days to receive payment for a simple oil change. I used their portal to submit the invoice, called and was on hold anywhere from 20 minutes to over a hour. I can't stay on hold for that long at a time waiting to speak to someone. Their portal doesn't work properly and will not accept any pricing you add to it. This is why I will never accept them ever again.

I got my Ambassador Platinum policy with PMC 2/8/2022 with 121,000 miles on my car. I informed them that I use my car for work. Now that I need a transmission repair they have told me that I did not follow my owner's manual for "Severe driving" scheduled maintenance which was a transmission flush every 30,000 miles. The problem is my driving habits for my job do NOT fit the guidelines for the "Severe driving" schedule. But PMC has decided that just because I am a Courier, I automatically have to follow that schedule. I have spoken with the Manufacturer on this and they said my driving habits are under their "Normal" maintenance schedule, but PMC refuses to look into this. They said once denied, it won't be overturned.

I have been paying for a contract that was already Voided when I signed it, (because under Normal maintenance my car got its 1st transmission flush at 130,000 miles) based off the reason for denying the claim. They told me it wasn't their fault that I didn't follow the proper maintenance schedule from my manual, even though my driving habits DO NOT meet that type of schedule. If you use your car for work, I would steer clear of this company.
